Notice for Miscrosoft Vista users


	Understanding Accounts is a "finance for non-financial" multimedia CD-ROM to help you read and understand an Annual Report and Accounts, including the Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Account and Cash Flow Statement. It also explains the concepts of Assets and Liabilities, Liquidity, Depreciation, Equity and Loan Capital and Gearing, and shows how to use Accounting Ratios to identify trends in a company's financial performance.
	Notice for Windows Vista users
	Although this multimedia product has been on the market since 2005 and has been found very reliable by hundreds of users, some users of the Microsoft Vista operating system are having difficulty playing the video clips. We are not sure why this is, since they are encoded in MPEG1, one of the most common video file formats. If you experience this problem, please go to Control Panel / Appearance settings, then change from Windows Aero to Windows Vista Basic in order to play the CD-ROM, alternatively ... Right-click a blank area on the Vista Desktop Click on "Personalize". Click on the link: "Windows Colour and Appearance" Then click the link which you'll find down at the bottom: "Open classic appearance properties for more colour options" Select "Windows Vista Basic" from the menu on the Appearance Settings that should appear, and apply. We understand that our multimedia authoring software will soon be updated to perform this setting change automatically. We will then issue an updated version of Understanding Accounts. Users of Windows XP and earlier operating systems will experience no problems.
